Carefree, Natural, family moments on the dunes

WELCOME AND WHAT TO EXPECT

Thank you so much for booking your desert photo session with me — I’m truly excited to capture these special memories for your family. Desert sessions are some of my favourite because they’re full of movement, freedom, and natural beauty. The dunes, the sand, and the golden light, create the most magical backdrop for storytelling photography.

My approach is relaxed and natural. I’ll guide you gently with prompts and suggestions, but the real magic happens in the in-between moments — when your little ones are running barefoot down the dunes, when you’re laughing together, or when you’re cuddling close on the sand. Don’t worry about “perfect posing” — your session is about connection, joy, and the unique love your family shares.

Think of this experience as family time in the desert with the people you love most — with me there to preserve it all. The more relaxed and playful you are, the more beautiful and genuine your photos will be.

WHAT TO WEAR

Choosing the right outfits can make a big difference in how your photos look and feel, but don’t worry — it doesn’t have to be complicated! The key is to keep things simple, comfortable, and coordinated.

Colors that work best are light, neutral, and earthy tones. Think whites, creams, beiges, soft blues, sage greens, blush pinks, or muted pastels. These colors complement the natural tones of the sand and sky beautifully. Avoid very bright neon shades, large logos, or bold patterns, as they can distract from the connection and emotion in your photos.

Most importantly, wear clothes you can move in and that make you feel good. The more comfortable and confident you feel, the more it will shine through in your photos. Bare feet are always encouraged — nothing looks more natural and relaxed than toes in the sand!

WHAT TO BRING?

A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your desert photoshoot smooth and stress-free. Here are a few handy things to pack:

Snacks & water – keep them light and mess-free, like crackers or fruit.  Avoid anything that might stain clothes.

Wipes – optional, but often come in useful with little ones

That’s really it! Keep it simple — we move a lot in a desert shoot to get to the next untouched dune, and it's quite a workout, so you don't want to carry more than you have to.

PREPARING CHILDREN (& PARTNERS)

The best family photos come from real moments — play, laughter, cuddles, and connection. Please don’t worry if your little ones aren’t perfectly still or smiling at the camera the whole time — that’s not what this session is about. I’ll encourage them to run, explore, play, and simply be kids. Those genuine moments are what make the most beautiful memories.

You can help by letting them know this will be a fun adventure rather than a formal photoshoot. A little excitement and curiosity go a long way! If they arrive relaxed and happy, the photos will reflect that energy.

And for partners — the same goes! There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or “perform.” All I ask is that you enjoy being present with your family, focus on connection, and let me take care of the rest. The more relaxed and affectionate you are, the more natural and heartfelt the images will be.

WEATHER & CONDITIONS?

One of the most beautiful things about a desert session is that no two are ever the same — the sky, the light, and the dunes change daily and all add their own magic.

Golden hour (just before sunset or after sunrise) gives us the softest, most flattering light and those dreamy glowing tones. But it is incredibly short here in Dubai, so please ensure you arrive to your shoot on time so that we don't miss it.

Cloudy skies are not a problem at all — in fact, they create soft, even light and can make the colors of the sky and sand really pop.

Wind is very common in the desert and actually adds gorgeous movement to your photos when it is gentle — think hair blowing, dresses flowing, and a natural, carefree vibe.

If we get rain, fog, or if the wind is above 25km/h I’ll be in touch to reschedule your session for another day,

The goal is always to work with nature rather than against it — often the most unexpected conditions make for the most magical photos.

AFTER THE SESSION

Within 48 hours of your session, you’ll receive a private unedited proofing gallery via Pixieset. Here, you can browse all your images, select your favourites by clicking the heart, and leave any specific editing requests.

Once your favourites are confirmed, I’ll begin editing in my soft and natural style, including a black-and-white version of each selected photo. Your fully edited gallery will be ready within 14 days, delivered through a personalized link where you can view, download, and share your images with friends and family.

I hope your gallery becomes a treasured keepsake — a beautiful reminder of your family, your laughter, and the joy of this special time together.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

That’s completely normal — and totally fine! Children don’t need to sit still or smile perfectly for us to get beautiful photos. I’ll guide them through fun activities and capture those natural, candid moments that truly reflect their personalities.

Can we bring pets?

100% yes - the desert is the perfect outdoor location to include your furry family members - just make sure it won't be too hot for them and that you have plenty of water.

What if we’re running late?

Because we rely on the sunset/sunrise light, timing is really important. Please plan to arrive a little early so we can make the most of the golden hour. If you’re late, we’ll have less light to work with — but I’ll do my best to maximize our time.

How long will the session last?

Due to the light I aim to begin 60 minutes before sunset. This gives us plenty of time for play, connection, and a variety of shots without anyone feeling rushed.

What should we do if our child gets sandy?

Don’t worry — that’s all part of the fun! These moments often make for the most memorable photos. Just bring a towel and a spare change of clothes for after the session.
