What age should my baby be for a posed newborn session?
When should I book my newborn photoshoot??
Do I get to choose my favourite photos?
What if I book a session based on my baby's due date and they come early or late?
Posed newborn sessions should ideally take place between day 7 and day 14, as this is when baby's are most sleepy and comfortable in posed positions. However, it depends on the baby and some are happy in posed positions up to 1 month old. Newborn lifestyle sessions can take place anytime in the first few weeks or months of baby's life.
Because posed newborn photoshoots should ideally take place before baby is 14 days old, it's important to get booked in early to ensure availability in this limited period. I would recommend booking at least 3 months in advance to avoid disappointment. However, it's always worth getting in touch even if you want a session sooner as the nature of newborn photography means that appointments are very fluid and spaces can open up unexpectedly at the last minute.
All of the photos from your session will be added to a personalised online proofing gallery that you can access and select your favourite photos. Once your selected photos have been edited you can then download and share your favourites directly from your gallery in both high resolution for printing and web resolution for social media.
I ensure that my diary is never completely full so that I have flexibility for my newborn clients. We set a tentative date based on your due date but if anything changes just let me know as soon as possible and we will rearrange.
